BOROONDARA coffee addicts don't need to travel far to get a high-quality bean hit.
Cafe magazine, Crema, rated Hawthorn cafe Liar Liar and Canterbury's the Maling Room as having the second and third best coffee in Melbourne respectively.
Liar Liar co-owner Nolan Hirte said he was stoked to have such an impact on Melbourne's coffee scene.
He said the key to a good coffee was to have fresh products and to serve coffee within 48 hours of roasting.
Mr Hirte said Hawthorn was the perfect place for quality coffee.
"People are fussy here and they like to have the best," Mr Hirte said.
"They really appreciate good quality coffee."
Passionate coffee maker and Maling Room owner Andrew Lew said he was constantly trying to re-create the perfect cup of coffee.
"You have that perfect cup and from then on you are just trying to re-create that feeling," Mr Lew said.
He said the building, once Canterbury's post office, was ideal for his coffee.
"It is a 100-year-old building and you just can't buy that sort of character," Mr Lew said.
